EDGEasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that there is no sub-post office in Peckleton, which has a larger population than Kirkby which has one; that although the wires run through Peckleton there is no telepone; and that old age pensioners have as much as one and a-half miles to walk to draw their old age pensions; and whether he can see his way, in these circumstances, to make adequate arrangements whereby Peckleton may enjoy the postal advantages enjoyed by neighbouring villages of less population?
§ Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSONThe question of establishing a sub-post office at Peckleton has been very carefully considered in connection with the hon. Member's recent written representation and with representations received from the local authorities; but I regret that the circumstances do not justify the establishment of an office. I am making inquiries as to the practicability of providing telephone call office facilities at Peckleton.
