HC Deb 21 May 1928 vol 217 c1518W
Mr. CHARLETON

asked the Minister of Agriculture the prices of imported and home-grown hops during the year 1927?

Mr. GUINNESS

Owing to the wide variations in the quality of hops the calculation of an average price for the crop presents great difficulties. It is estimated, however, that the average selling price of the home crop of 1927 was about 235s. per cwt., the range of prices, which was rather wider than usual, being from 100s. to 320s. per cwt. The average declared value (including duty) of imported hops in 1927 was 240s. per cwt.
