HC Deb 21 June 1928 vol 218 c1788W
Sir R. THOMAS

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the addition to the slipperiness of smooth-surfaced roads, both in urban and in rural areas, by oil and grease dropping from motor vehicles,, he will institute inquiries into the best type of undertray to catch such leakages, with a view to standardising it?

Colonel ASHLEY

Though some old types of vehicle may drop more oil than is desirable, I am advised that with the modern methods of construction of motor vehicles the amount of oil dropped from them is too small to have an appreciable effect on the slipperiness of roads.
