HC Deb 21 June 1928 vol 218 cc1787-8W
Mr. SCRYMGEOUR

asked the Minister of Transport whether, seeing that he has, under the Road Transport Lighting Act, 1927, and Draft Road Vehicles Regulations, 1928, granted exemption regulations in respect of certain areas in the Liverpool district for slow-moving horse-drawn vehicles conveying loads of cotton, he will now be prepared to grant such exemption in the matter of modified lighting conditions for jute loads as carried in Dundee?

Colonel ASHLEY

The exemption regulations for the Liverpool district are re-enactments of similar regulations which automatically expired when the Lights on Vehicles Act, 1907, was repealed. I am advised that there is not the same technical justification for the making of similar regulations in respect of jute-carrying vehicles and jute storage areas.
