HC Deb 04 July 1928 vol 219 cc1388-9W
Sir W. SUGDEN

asked the President of the Board of Trade what action he intends to take in respect to paragraph 38 (2) of the Report of the Dating and Sealing of Patents Committee in regard to the introduction of a change in the British practice as to the dating and sealing of patents; and if he is accepting the recommendation of the International Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property as to the abolition of third-party risks?

Mr. H. WILLIAMS

The Conference of the International Union for the Protection of Industrial Property held at The Hague in 1925 did not agree upon any recommendation for the abolition of third-party rights. If, however, the agreement of the countries of the union could be obtained to such abolition, His Majesty's Government would be prepared to consider favourably the recommendation in paragraphs 24 (3) and 38 (2) of the Report of the Dating and Sealing of Patents Committee in regard to the introduction of a change in the British practice as to the dating and sealing of patents.
