HC Deb 19 December 1928 vol 223 c3030W
Mr. HANNON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he has received recently any Report from His Majesty's Ambassador at Washington on contemplated increases of tariffs in the United States on imported manufactured goods?

Sir A CHAMBERLAIN

His Majesty's Ambassador has, of course, reported on the general tariff situation, but not on contemplated increases of tariff. While the possible amendment of the tariff laws at present in force is giving rise to considerable discussion in the United States, no decision on the subject has yet been announced, nor have any new proposals yet been submitted to the legislature.
