HC Deb 19 December 1928 vol 223 cc3026-7W
Sir A. KNOX

asked the Home Secretary whether he will now see his way to remit a part of the sentence of six months' imprisonment inflicted upon Mrs. Chaney by the borough bench of High Wycombe on 22nd October for a first offence of theft?

Sir V. HENDERSON

My right hon. Friend has again considered very carefully all the facts of this case, but he much regrets that he would not feel justified, consistently with his public duty, in recommending any interference with the sentence of six months' imprisonment, of which the prisoner has not yet served two months.
