HC Deb 18 December 1928 vol 223 c2839W
Sir R. THOMAS

asked the Minister of Transport the number of children who have been killed or injured by traffic on their way to or from school in London during the last complete year; whether he will ascertain how many main roads near schools are without refuges; and will he draw the attention of the responsible authorities to the need of remedying this lack?

Colonel ASHLEY

The information asked for in the first part of the question is not available, and could only be obtained, if at all, by an examination of each individual police record, A review by the London and Home Counties Traffic Advisory Committee of all the main streets in the London area is in progress, and particular attention is being directed to the provision of refuges with a view to the prevention of accidents. The attention of local authorities has already been drawn to the importance of this matter.
