HC Deb 12 December 1928 vol 223 cc2150-1W
Mr. KELLY

asked the Minister of Labour whether any instruction has been given to the chairman of the Bournemouth courts of referees to insist that applicants for unemployment insurance benefit must carry a book into which must be entered a record of each place where application was made for work?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

The answer is in the negative. In order that there may be no misunderstanding I may add that I believe that some chairmen have suggested to claimants that, in their own interests, they should keep a record of the applications they make for work. This, however, is not upon the instruction or suggestion of the Department.
