HC Deb 04 December 1928 vol 223 c1044W
Sir R. THOMAS

asked the Postmaster-General the number of wireless receiving licences issued in each of the counties of Wales; what is the number per thousand for the whole of Wales; and what is the number per thousand of population for all England?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

Statistics of the issue of wireless licences on a county basis are not available, but I hope that the following information will serve the hon. Member's purpose. The total number of licences in force on 31st October last in the whole of Wales was about 80,600, which is equivalent to a rate of 36.5 per thousand of population. The corresponding rate for England is 62.8, for Scotland 37.3 and for Northern Ireland 21.9.
