HC Deb 11 April 1928 vol 162 c1242W
Commander BELLAIRS

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport what steps he is taking to see that the new Sheppey bridge to be built by the Southern Railway system is up to the requirements of modern traffic, having regard to the development of the Kent. coal fields?

Colonel ASHLEY

I understand that the Southern Railway Company are reconstructing in a substantial manner the pier of the King's Ferry Bridge between. the Isle of Sheppey and the mainland, which was damaged in December last, but I am not aware that they propose to erect a new bridge.
