HC Deb 11 April 1928 vol 162 cc1241-2W
Commander BELLAIRS

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport whether the railway companies have yet revived the concession which was given before the War by which, under certain restrictions, a return ticket was granted at the cost of a single fare to the officers and men of the Royal Navy and Army?

Colonel ASHLEY

The railway companies have not seen their way to reinstate the pre-war arrangements, but they have agreed to a concession under which men of the Navy, Army and Air Force in uniform travelling on leave can obtain return tickets under certain restrictions at the ordinary single fare and a third. They have also recently male a similar concession to officers proceeding on leave, but their tickets are first class only, and are issued subject to a minimum fare of 5s.
