HC Deb 24 November 1927 vol 210 c2072W
Mr. SPOOR

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that books and pamphlets are proscribed in India on the grounds that they are calculated to arouse feelings of hatred and contempt in the minds of a section of His Majesty's Indian subjects; whether he has read a book called "Mother India," by Miss Katherine Mayo; and whether this book will be proscribed on these grounds?

Earl WINTERTON

The answer to the first and second parts of the question is in the affirmative, and to the third, in the negative.
