HC Deb 22 November 1927 vol 210 c1611W
Colonel DAY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether he will cause inquiries to be made into the use of the mechanical and automatic apparatus which has lately been introduced into the Finnish Parliament for recording divisions; and whether, in view of the saving of time to the members of the Finnish Parliament by the use of this apparatus, he will consider the practicability of its introduction into the British House of Commons?

Sir V. HENDERSON

(for The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS): I will certainly cause inquiries to be made regarding the apparatus to which the hon. Member refers. As regards the second part of the question, I would remind the hon. Member that no alteration in the present method of recording Divisions in this House can be made except on a decision by the House itself.
