HC Deb 22 November 1927 vol 210 c1614W
Mr. G. HALL

asked the Secretary for Mines (1) whether he is aware that the Navigation Colliery, Mountain Ash, has been closed down for some months; and whether it is the intention of the colliery company to reopen this colliery in the near future;

(2) whether he is aware that a number of collieries owned by the Powell Duffryn Coal Company in the Aberdare district have been closed down for some months; and whether it is the intention of this colliery company to reopen these collieries in the near future;

(3) whether he is aware that the collieries owned by the Cwmaman Coal Company, Cwmaman, Glamorganshire, have been closed for the past five months; and whether it is the intention of the colliery company to reopen these collieries in the near future?

Colonel LANE FOX

I am aware that the pits referred to have been closed down for some time on account of trade conditions. No notice of abandonment has been received, and it is therefore assumed that the collieries will be re-opened when the directors consider that trade conditions justify this course, but I have no information which enables me to say when this will be.
