HC Deb 17 November 1927 vol 210 c1145W
Mr. BARNES

asked the Secretary for Mines the consumption of domestic coal per head of the population in Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the years 1924, 1925 and 1926, respectively?

Colonel LANE FOX

It is not possible to give precise figures of the consumption of domestic coal in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, but on such information as is obtainable by my Department it is estimated that such consumption amounted to about 18 cwts. per head of population in each of the years 1924 and 1925. I regret that a similar estimate in respect of the year 1926 is impracticable owing to the effects of the stoppage.
