HC Deb 17 November 1927 vol 210 c1146W
Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Minister of Transport if his attention has been called to the state of congestion which exists at Finsbury Park (Seven Sisters Road) in the evening owing to the in-adequate facilities of transportation afforded to those people residing in North London; and, if so, if it is his intention to take any action to minimise the existing danger to the travelling public, who are compelled to congregate in the middle of the road to board the tramcars?

Colonel ASHLEY

The congestion which occurs at Finsbury Park to which the hon. Member refers is a matter of common knowledge, and the closest observation has been kept upon this spot. Some considerable relief has been afforded by alteration of omnibus workings to reduce to a minimum the necessity for those vehicles travelling along the Seven Sisters Road, and this arrangement at the same time minimises the danger to persons waiting to board the tramcars. The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis renders such assistance by police action as is practicable on exceptionally busy occasions.
