HC Deb 17 November 1927 vol 210 cc1132-3W
Mr. SCRYMGEOUR

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has received any representation from an ex-official of Baldovan Industrial School, Dundee, with a record of 25 years' service, submitting grounds for an investigation as to the management of this school; and, if so, whether he is taking any steps to ascertain the actual state of matters there?

Sir J. GILMOUR

A representation has been made to me on behalf of the ex-official referred to, and I am considering it. But Ii may remind the hon. Member that the powers of the Department under Section 21 of the Education (Scotland) Act, 1908, are limited to the cases of certificated teachers in the service of education authorities.
