asked the Minister of Health what was the rateable value of all property in England and Wales upon which rates were levied in the years 1920–21 and 1926–27?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The rateable value, for purposes of local rates, of all the rateable property in England and Wales was, according to the Valuation Lists in force in April, 1920, £236,024,438,. and, according to those in force in April,, 1926, £275,641,728. These totals include the annual value of property in the occupation of the Government in respect of which contributions in lieu of rates were paid.
