HC Deb 10 November 1927 vol 210 cc376-7W
Viscount SANDON

asked the Secretary for Mines the reason why the three Staffordshire coalfields cannot be grouped together as a county, as in the case of Yorkshire and others, in the weekly and the quarterly statistical summary, instead of being included with others under three separate headings?

Colonel LANE FOX

It is necessary to preserve sufficient continuity in the form of the statistics to enable comparisons to be made. The present division of the coalfields for statistical purposes is considered by the Coal Advisory Committee to be the best which, within the above limits, can be devised for general use.
