HC Deb 10 November 1927 vol 210 c378W
Mr. W. NICHOLSON

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, the rent per annum paid by the Office of Works for the official residence of the High Commissioner in Jerusalem; who is responsible for the repair of the damage sustained during the recent earthquake; who is the owner of the property; and to whom is the rent paid?

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

I have been asked to reply. The residence in question is the property of the Kaiserin Augusta Victoria Stiftung, to whom rent is paid by the Palestine Government. In 1926 the rent paid was £E2,200; I am unable to say whether the figure has since been altered. The liability for damage caused by earthquake has not yet been settled.
