HC Deb 02 May 1927 vol 205 c1288W
Mr. J. HUDSON

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he will give information with regard to the arrangements for working the pearl fisheries at Tuticorin, and what proportion of the total receipts from the sale of oysters from these beds is taken by the Government, and what share is allotted to the divers in lieu of wages?

Earl WINTERTON

My Noble Friend has no recent information. Fisheries is a transferred Provincial subject, for the administration of which the Governor acting with his Ministers is responsible.
