HC Deb 02 May 1927 vol 205 c1301W
Miss LAWRENCE

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury how many of the candidates declared successful or qualified at the last examination for the grade of established typist were in each case employed as temporary typists at the date of the examination, and what proportion this represents of the total number of successful and qualified candidates, respectively?

Mr. RONALD McNEILL

The number of candidates who qualified at the last (September, 1926) examination for typists was 327, all of whom have now been declared successful. According to the information in the possession of the Civil Service Commissioners, 144 of the above candidates were serving at the date of the examination as temporary typists or temporary shorthand typists in Government Departments.
