§ Mr. STEWART SANDEMANasked the Minister of Transport whether, seeing that in the proposed widening of Kensington High Street a private firm is surrendering about 10,000 square feet of land and acquiring about 30,000 square feet of public street, in addition to a payment from public revenues, he will make it one of the terms of this expenditure of public money that the said firm shall provide a parking place for the cars of its customers, and thereby relieve the public thoroughfares?
§ Colonel ASHLEYThe figure of 10,000 square feet given in my hon. Friend's question is inaccurate. The correct figure is 16,270 square feet. Apart from this I understand that the agreement- under which this improvement will be carried into effect will provide for the larger area of what are now two streets being kept unbuilt upon, and for the remaining area to be re-arranged to form loading bays. I have not yet had an opportunity of considering the proposed agreement, but when doing so I will take into consideration my hon. Friend's suggestion.
