§ Sir A. CHAMBERLAINIn the attack on the concession on 3rd January, two British naval ratings received severe head injuries inflicted by bamboo poles, and a third received bayonet wounds. All these men had to be removed to hospital. Several special constables and civilians were also injured by stones and bricks, and a German merchant was stabbed 36 times by the mob.
