HC Deb 02 June 1927 vol 207 cc559-60W
Sir R. THOMAS

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been drawn to the operations of bogus agents who endeavour to engage girls as dancing partners, both in this country and abroad, on discreditable terms of contract calculated to lead to immorality; and whether he will cause the police to exercise vigilance in the matter?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

Yes, Sir. My attention has been called to certain newspaper articles. If there was any reason to suppose that girls were being procured in this way for immoral purposes it would be the duty of the police to intervene, but I have at present no evidence whatever which would warrant such intervention.
