Mr. CHAMBERLAINInsulin is not a curative agent in the ordinary sense of that term, and it is administered with the object of neutralising for the time being the consequences of the disease, although in certain case its prolonged administration may be followed by a diminution in, or even the entire disappearance of, the1488W active symptoms. No statistics are available as to the number of persons who have received this treatment nor is it possible to ascertain the number of cases in which the administration of insulin has contributed to the cure of this disease.
