HC Deb 24 February 1927 vol 202 cc1937-8W
Commander BELLAIRS

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has investigated the question of the four great groups of railways having different powers in regard to the carriage of goods and passengers; and whether legislation is contemplated to put them all on 5,11 equal basis?

Colonel ASHLEY

The whole question of railway charges was dealt with by the Railway Act, 1921, and jurisdiction over those charges was conferred upon the Railway Rates Tribunal established by that Act. I am not clear in what respect the hon. and gallant Member thinks that new legislation is desirable.
