asked the Secretary for Mines the number of fatal accidents which occurred in the coal mines of Great Britain between 1st May and 1st December, 1926; and the number of fatal accidents which have occurred since 1st December?

From the beginning of May to the end of November, 1926, there were 141 fatal accidents at mines under the Coal Mines Acts, causing 145 deaths. For the period 1st December, 1926, to the end of January, 1927, the corresponding figures were 164 and 173.
