§ Mr. RILEYasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if he is aware that a consignment of woollen and silk rags consigned to a Dewsbury merchant is lying at the Goole Docks; that although the consignee, on the request of the Customs authorities, has certified that the rags will be carbonised and the silk destroyed, the Customs officers insist on a duty of 1s. per lb. being paid before releasing the rags, and that the rags cost 5½d. per lb.; and whether he will have the matter investigated?
