§ Sir H. BRITTAINasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that the efforts being made to popularise British air routes for the transport of urgently required goods are being largely negatived by the formali- 1906W ties and time spent in the Customs examination; and whether he will take all possible steps to simplify and expedite this matter at the home aerodrome?
§ Mr. RONALD McNEILLI am informed that the arrangements for the examination and clearance by the Customs authorities of air-borne merchandise compare favourably with those operating in the case of that class of seaborne traffic with which the air-borne traffic is in direct competition, and on the evidence available these arrangements do not appear to involve unnecessary delay or to be unduly complicated.
