asked the Under-Secretary of State for India what steps the Government propose to take to give effect to the recommendations of the Mercantile Marine Committee (1924), as to the reservation of Indian coasting trade and subsidiary matters?

The Government of India are opposed to the recommendation of the Mercantile Marine Committee regarding the reservation of the Indian coasting trade, but they are taking steps to establish a training ship at Karachi as recommended by the Committee.
