HC Deb 09 November 1926 vol 199 cc890-1W
Mr. FORREST

asked the Prime Minister whether in view of the fact that the interpretation of the law by the umpire is to the effect, in respect of the refusal of unemployment benefit to the deputies, examiners, and fireman, that the smallest possible percentage of participation in the miners' dispute through membership of a miners' organisation invalidates the right to benefit of the whole of the residue, he will expedite the Report of the Blanesburgh Committee with a view to legislation to remove this disability?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

I have been asked to reply. This matter has been referred to Lord Blanesburgh's Committee which has already heard some evidence on it and is hearing more tomorrow. The hon. Member may be assured that there will be no avoidable delay in the completion of the Committee's report.
