asked the Minister of Agriculture if he can state in detail the nature of any guarantee given since 1st January, 1926, to any sugar-beet companies under the Trade Facilities Scheme?

Guarantees have been given to sugar-beet companies under the Trade Facilities Acts since the 1st January, 1926, as follow:

Anglo-Scottish Beet Sugar Corporation, Limited 240,000
Orchard Sugar Company, Limited 100,000
The loan to the Anglo-Scottish Beet Sugar Corporation was to enable the company to bring its allied company, the Second Anglo-Scottish Beet Sugar Corporation to the production stage.

The loan to the Orchard Sugar Company, Limited, was to enable the company to complete its equipment and operate.
