HC Deb 09 November 1926 vol 199 c895W
Mr. HURD

asked the Secretary of State for War what steps are being taken to protect ancient monuments on War Office property, as for example, on the Wiltshire Downs?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

Every possible care is taken to avoid damaging ancient monuments and works on the Wiltshire Downs, as far as they are known to the military authorities. I am consulting my right hon. and Noble Friend the First Commissioner of Works whether any further steps are necessary or possible to safeguard works of national interest in this and similar areas.
