HC Deb 04 March 1926 vol 192 c1646W
Major CRAWFURD

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if the statement relating to his interview with certain representatives of the motor trade which appeared in the Press on 19th February was made with his authority; and, if so, will he state his reasons for issuing a statement to the Press which he refused to make to the House of Commons?

Mr. McNEILL

In his reply to the speeches made at the recent deputation from representatives of the motor industry my right hon. Friend made no statement of policy, which as he informed the deputation cannot, of course, be disclosed before the Budget statement.
