§ Mr. LAMBasked the Prime Minister if he will consider the advisability of appointing a Royal Commission to review the legislation enacted during, say, the past 15 years, with a view to making recommendations in respect to the repeal or amendment of any Act or Acts of Parliament which involve national or local expenditure that the nation cannot afford in existing circumstances?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI am afraid that the proposal of my hon. Friend is impracticable. No Royal or other Commission could have the means of deciding whether the expenditure occasioned by any particular Act of Parliament is beyond the financial capacity of the nation, or of pronouncing judgment on the questions of policy involved in legislation.
