HC Deb 25 February 1926 vol 192 cc745-6W
Mr. GRIFFITHS

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to an advertisement issued by the Borough of Devizes for a whole-time fully-qualified sanitary inspector, if possible with a knowledge of surveying, at a salary of £150 per annum, the person appointed to discharge all the duties of sanitary inspector, as prescribed by the Sanitary Acts and the Regulations from time to time in force thereunder, of inspector of slaughter houses, dairies, and milkshops, of inspector under the Housing and Town Planning Acts, and of inspector under the Petroleum, the Canal Boats, and the Rats and Mice (Destruction) Acts, and generally to carry out the duties laid down in the council's by-laws; whether the advertisement was approved by him in accordance with the Sanitary Officer's Order; and whether he proposes to withhold his sanction until the appointment is advertised at an adequate salary?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

My attention has been drawn to the advertisement. I have not given any approval in the matter as I understand that the terms proposed are the same as those applicable to the late officer.
