HC Deb 25 February 1926 vol 192 c742W
Mr. HARRISON

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is satisfied that juvenile unemployment centres are fulfilling the object for which they were designed in their respective areas; and whether he is prepared to increase their activities as well as the number of such centres in the country generally?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

I am satisfied both from reports which I have received and from what I have seen myself of their activities that the juvenile unemployment centres are fulfilling the object for which they were designed. I am always prepared to consider sympathetically any proposals from local education authorities for additional centres or for the development of those now open, provided that these proposals come within the scope of the current scheme.
