HC Deb 23 February 1926 vol 192 c327W
Colonel DAY

asked the Postmaster-General whether the experimental installation of telephones on lighting and tramway standards at taxi-cab ranks in Glasgow has been successful; and whether installations are likely in other areas?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

The system of cab-rank telephones for inward calls was extended to Glasgow at the end of last year. The experience of the working of the arrangement there is not yet sufficient to admit of the expression of a definite opinion as to the results. The system is in operation in London and some of the larger provincial towns, and will be extended where there is a demand for the facility and where it would prove remunerative.
