HC Deb 11 February 1926 vol 191 cc1280-1W
Mr. MACLEAN

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department the total sum that was spent in advertising the British Empire Exhibition, 1925, in this country; and how much in the Colonies and foreign countries?

Mr. A. M. SAMUEL

I am informed that the total sum spent by the Exhibition authorities in advertising the British Empire Exhibition in 1925 was £121,833. It was not necessary for the Exhibition authorities to incur expenditure in the Dominions and Colonies owing to the publicity in each part of the Empire being arranged for locally in connection with the participation of the Dominion or Colony concerned. Only a very small amount was spent in foreign countries.
