HC Deb 10 February 1926 vol 191 c1075W
Mr. RILEY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, seeing that the island of Saseno, situate at the entrance to the Bay of Valona, forms part of the republic of Albania, and that Italian military and naval forces are in occupation of the island, he will say whether such occupation has received the consent of the League of Nations?

Sir A. CHAMBERLAIN

When Italy evacuated Albania, after concluding the preliminary Protocol of Tirana at the end of August, 1920, it was stipulated therein that she should remain in occupation of the island of Saseno. In view of the agreement thus reached between the two parties concerned, no question of the consent of the League of Nations arises.
