§ Mr. BETTERTONI have been asked to reply. The number of insured persons 859W in the Shipping Service recorded as unemployed in Great Britain on 25th January, 1926, was 25,765, the corresponding figure for 26th January, 1925, being 26,916. These figures include all unemployed persons classified as belonging to the Shipping Service, such as seamen, stewards, clerks, cooks, firemen, etc., who are insured under the Unemployment Insurance Acts. The nationalities of insured persons are not separately distinguished in the figures.
