HC Deb 09 February 1926 vol 191 c858W
Brigadier-General CLIFTON BROWN

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has received representations from local authorities in rural and urban areas protesting against the withdrawal of the unemployment grant from the Road Fund on account of the heavy extra charges that will in consequence fall on the ratepayer for roads; and whether he will make up to them from the Road Fund the losses they will incur in these road schemes owing to depending on the continuance of the unemployment grant from the Road Fund?

Colonel ASHLEY

I am not aware that there has been any withdrawal of unemployment grants from the Road Fund, but if my hon. and gallant Friend will let me know what particular grants be has in mind I will cause inquiries to be made.
