§ Sir A. STEEL-MAITLANDI have been asked to reply. The number of permits issued under Article 1 (3) (b) of the Aliens' Order, 1920, in respect of alien domestic servants was 1,497 in 1925, and 1,733 for the eleven months ended 30th November, 1926. In addition, of the aliens allowed to land as visitors, students, etc., 313 in 1925 and 269 during 1926 were subsequently permitted to take up work as domestic servants.
