HC Deb 09 December 1926 vol 200 c2324W
Mr. ROSE

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the increasing use of petrol in transport, he can assure the House that his Department will not place difficulties in the way of the use of rail motor cars, especially as the restrictions formerly in use were imposed with a view to restricting only horse-drawn traffic?

Colonel ASHLEY

Where a railway company is not legally debarred from using petrol engines, and I am satisfied that proper precautions are taken and safety appliances adopted, no difficulties are placed in the way of the use of rail motor cars, but it will be appreciated that each case must be considered on its merits.
