HC Deb 09 December 1926 vol 200 c2315W
Mr. PALING

asked the Secretary of State for War if his attention has been drawn to the circumstances connected with the death of Private William Kincaid, of the King's Own Scottish Borderers, who was killed by falling from a railway train near Arksey, Doncaster, on Wednesday morning, 24th November; is he aware that, although the Army authorities were communicated with the same day, no action was taken for several days concerning the burial of the deceased; that they sent no one to the inquiry; that the body lay in the mortuary from Wednesday to Monday afternoon, and that an appeal to the Poor Law authorities to bury him was narrowly avoided; and the reason for all these delays?

Captain KING

I presume that the hon. Member refers to the case of Private Robert Arthur. I have already called for a report on the matter and I will communicate with the hon. Member in due course.
