HC Deb 09 December 1926 vol 200 c2326W
Sir C. CAYZER

asked the Minister of Agriculture how many types of cheese makers in this country are developing their industry by adopting a scheme of registration which involves the grading of the cheese with a view to greater uniformity of quality; and what stimulation and assistance he is giving to this movement?

Mr. GUINNESS

As far as I am aware, the Cheshire Cheese Federation is the only body in this country which has decided to adopt a scheme of registration on the lines referred to by my hon. Friend. I am in sympathy with any movement of this character, and the Ministry have given such advice and help as lay in their power to the Cheshire cheese manufacturers. I have also under consideration an application from the Federation for financial assistance in furtherance of the scheme.
