Mr. PRESTONasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view 3005W of the concessions which have already been made to the Government of the United States to assist them in enforcing the Prohibition Law, he will consider the desirability of not agreeing to any further modification of international usage without at least some quid pro quo.
§ Sir A. CHAMBERLAINI would refer my hon. Friend to the terms of the Liquor Convention with the United States, to the White Paper issued on this subject in May last (Cmd. 2647), and to the statement made in this House on the 27th of July. There has been no further modification of international usage. The Liquor Convention with the United States, signed on the 23rd January, 1924, gives this country aquid pro quo in Article 3.
