§ Mr. HANNONasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether his attention has been drawn to the serious effect upon the Lancashire cotton industry of the present disturbances in China; whether, as it has been found impossible to hold the customary auctions of Lancashire cotton goods in China, he will say what attitude His Majesty's 2243W Government proposes to take to safeguard the interests of British shippers of these commodities?
Mr. SAMUELAlthough I have no specific information in regard to the second part of the question, the answer to the first part is in the affirmative. His Majesty's Government will of course take any steps in their power to safeguard these and other British interests.
